Our Contributions to South Gulf Fire Rescue

SGCVFD 501(c)(3) was founded in 2006 to support the South Gulf County Volunteer Fire Department (now named South Gulf Fire Rescue) in its mission to provide emergency services to protect life and property and provide fire safety education in the South Gulf County Fire District, which includes Cape San Blas, Indian Pass, Jones Homestead, Simmons Bayou, and all of South Gulf County to the Franklin County line. SGCVFD501(c)(3) has donated more than $1 million to support South Gulf County initiatives, which includes financial support to South Gulf Fire Rescue that supplements State and County funding for vital activities such as emergency first responders, water rescue, and the beach flag program.

Life-Saving Equipment

SGCVFD 501(c)(3) Donations of Life-Saving Equipment Include the Following and More:

  • (2) $50,000 Toyota Tacoma 4x5 lifted trucks fitted with customized racks and beach driving capabilities

  • (3) $25,000 Yamaha FX Cruiser HOs with customized trailer with large beach tires and extended launching shaft

  • $75,000+ 593 Mobile Command Center

  • $50,000 Polaris 4x4 Can-Am fully outfitted and customized for Beach Safety and Water Rescue

  • Outfitting SGFR Water Rescue team members with complete rescue gear, $1500 per member

  • Purchased $48,000+ Artic Model Compressor Cascade System for re-charging firefighter air tanks

Supporting First Responders

SGCVFD 501(c)(3) Donations for the Fire Station Include:

  • SGFR was awarded a grant from the State of Florida for an industrial-grade washer/extractor to remove Cancer-causing carcinogens that become embedded into firefighter bunker gear when working in proximity to live fire incidents. The grant was $7,500 which fell short of the $10,000 cost. SGCVFD 501(c)(3) donated the remaining $2,500 to secure the equipment.

  • After damage from 2018 Hurricane Michael, SGCVFD 501(c)(3) helped the fire station replace their oven, tables and chairs, and funded the outfitting of 7 built-in cabinets with electric housing medical and life-saving equipment.

  • Outfitted fire station with $4,500+ industrial model ice machine

  • Supplied department with AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators)
